Sony has introduced the A6400, a mirrorless camera that aims to conquer Youtubers and other content creators. Among its novelties we find a touch screen -for focusing- 3 "LCD that can rotate up to 180º, ideal for viewing video or photographs while being captured. This characteristic has become essential in several cameras of the market, with those of Tokyo is already common see them integrated in the RX100 range.
(there are no references to the 5-axis stabilizer, which
means that this function is reserved for the A6500.)

Like its predecessors, it has a high-speed hybrid autofocus
system: 0.02 seconds. The company defines it as the fastest autofocus (AF) in
the world, surpassing its own mark of 0.05 seconds. It uses 425 focus points to
avoid losing any fast movement, a good alternative for fans of sports
photography.
Sony's popular eye recognition and tracking system, the Eye
AF, takes advantage of the possibilities of computer photography and artificial
intelligence to quickly identify people and focus their eyes, promising that it
now works in real time. It will also serve with animals, however, it will be
added by means of a later software update. Watch a demonstration of its operations int the following video:
The A6400 makes use of the 24.2-megapixel Exmor APS-C sensor
and a BIONZ X image processor. The two components allow a high-speed burst: 11
fps in the mechanical shutter and 8 fps in the silent shooting mode, both with
continuous tracking of AF/AE. The result of the capture will be 116 JPEG
photos or 46 in compressed RAW. For low light situations, the ISO range goes
from 100 to 32,000, both in still images and videos, but the latter can be
expanded to 102.4000.
With regard to video recording, the combination of its
advanced functions (zebra, logarithmic curves, Full HD at 120 fps) with the
180 degree flip-up screen makes us think that this model can be very
interesting for those who record themselves. You can capture videos with
4K resolution at 24 or 30 fps. For fans of slow-motion it is possible to reach
120 fps when recording in 1080p. Sony mentions that the autofocus in movies is
fast and stable thanks to its hybrid system. It integrates a microphone port,
but not the 3.5 mm jack for headphones.
In fact, some do not hesitate to redraw the APS-C and Sony
range by placing this A6400 as the new entry model (the A5000 range would
disappear) and leaving room for a future A7000 series with a central viewer and
semi-professional features.
