Microsoft has unveiled this console XBOX ONE S without disk drive and
only digital. The pre-orders would be launched in April 2019, for an almost
worldwide availability in May, the exact release date would be May 7, 2019.
The Microsoft Xbox One S All-Digital that does not ship a disk drive, is
unveiled thanks to photos published by Windows Central. Not surprisingly, the
console is a copy-paste of the current Xbox One S, except that the games can
only be downloaded.
Xbox One S All Digital is cheaper and can run all digital games

An Xbox One S is cheaper and able to run all digital games,
enjoy the joys of the Xbox Game Pass and why not the future xCloud. Microsoft's disc-less Xbox One S console is expected to
launch on May 7. Windows Central has obtained documentation indicating that
this is the launch date, as well as box images that the site recreated from the
leaks.
Microsoft would launch this console on the market as the
"Xbox One S All-Digital," signalling a new model without the
traditional Blu-ray player. We do not yet know the price of this new model, but
the withdrawal of a Blu-ray player will inevitably bring down the price - at
least we hope so.
Players who are interested in this model will only be able
to use the dematerialized games that are downloaded from the Microsoft store.
The advantage of this console is to display a price lower than the traditional
Xbox One S because the disk drive represents a certain cost all by itself. The
price of the new model without a reader is not known immediately.
The console will have 1TB of storage space and Microsoft
will offer three games: Forza Horizon 3, Sea of Thieves and Minecraft. Of
course, Microsoft hopes that players will subscribe to its Xbox Game Pass at
11$ / month to play a catalogue with several dozens of games.
An abyss of the Xbox Game Pass

Switching to a disc-less console is logical for Microsoft. The
company aggressively pushed its Xbox Game Pass, a subscription service that
gives access to more than 100 Xbox games. Xbox Game Studios titles such as Sea
of Thieves and Crackdown 3 are the first to be featured on the service.
After all, we can also talk about dematerialized content.
Microsoft has even recently
added Minecraft to the Xbox Game Pass. Microsoft is also working on a game
streaming service called xCloud that allows games to be streamed to PCs,
consoles and mobile devices. Microsoft uses Xbox One S hardware on these
servers, and a fully digital console would be another asset for such a service.
